Have you ever heard about Cerebral Palsy (CP)? Let me give you a brief intro of this most common childhood disability. The word “Cerebral” means “brain” and “Palsy” means “weakness of muscles”. CP is a cluster of disorders that affects a person’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture. According to an article published on 7th October 2020 in The Express Tribune, 4 out of each 1000 children suffers from CP in Pakistan, and its main cause is lack of care for pregnant women.

Come let’s meet a 15 years old exceptional CP warrior of our daycare center MOHAMMAD SALEH.
Mohammad Saleh got admitted in our daycare as a dependent individual who needed 2 helpers to mobilize him. He required complete assistance in chair transfer, walking and stairs ascending and descending. His inability to stand and walk is due to shaky movements of his body and severe feet deformity known as “Talipes valgus” in which foot is rotated inwards so that walking is done on the inner side of the foot and not by the sole.

Since his admission in the hope for life daycare center Mohammed Saleh is regularly going through physiotherapy sessions which includes a series of exercises and poses for strengthening, balance and coordination of his body. Mohammed Saleh is a highly motivated child with strong willpower to improve himself. It is our great pleasure to mention that within a short span of 5 months Mohammed Saleh has shown a tremendous progress. Inspite of his feet deformity, he is now able to balance his body considerably and is able to transfer himself and walk on his own using a walker support under supervisor.
Not only this but Mohammed Saleh has also shown progress in other area of learning. His speech has significantly enhanced. His participation in assembly recitation of tilawat, naat, poems and national anthem has surprised us.

Bravo to this charming young boy who never fails to always keep a shinning smile on his face and struggles to stand on his own.
